and the norm of an element is defined by ||/|| = ƒ | f(t) \ dt. In [4] Rudin showed that every function in L(R) is the convolution of two other functions. In other words, every element of the convolution algebra L(R) can be factored in L 1 ^ )» although this algebra lacks a unit. Subsequently, Cohen [ l ] observed that the essential ingredient in Rudin's argument is that ^(R) has an approximate unit in the sense of the following definition. DEFINITION. A Banach algebra B is said to have an approximate unit if there exists a real number C ^ l and a collection {e\: X£A} of elements of B, where the index set A is a directed set, such that the following two conditions are satisfied: | |ex| |âC, for each X, and lim e\X = lim xe\ = x$ for each xE.B. Cohen went on to prove that the factorization theorem still holds in any Banach algebra with approximate unit. The results in this note stem from the observation that multiple factorization occurs in the sup-norm algebra C0(R), the space of all complex valued continuous functions on R that vanish at infinity; tha t is, if / i , /2 , • • • , ƒ» are functions in CQ(R) and ô>0 , then there exist functions g, hi, h2, • • • , hn in C0(R) such that

Approximate $n-$ideal amenability of module extension Banach algebras
Let $mathcal{A}$ be a Banach algebra and $X$ be a Banach $mathcal{A}-$bimodule. We study the notion of approximate $n-$ideal amenability for module extension Banach algebras $mathcal{A}oplus X$. First, we describe the structure of ideals of this kind of algebras and we present the necessary and sufficient conditions for a module extension Banach algebra to be approximately n-ideally amenable.
متن کاملBounded approximate connes-amenability of dual Banach algebras
We study the notion of bounded approximate Connes-amenability for dual Banach algebras and characterize this type of algebras in terms of approximate diagonals. We show that bounded approximate Connes-amenability of dual Banach algebras forces them to be unital. For a separable dual Banach algebra, we prove that bounded approximate Connes-amenability implies sequential approximat...
متن کاملModule approximate amenability of Banach algebras
In the present paper, the concepts of module (uniform) approximate amenability and contractibility of Banach algebras that are modules over another Banach algebra, are introduced. The general theory is developed and some hereditary properties are given. In analogy with the Banach algebraic approximate amenability, it is shown that module approximate amenability and contractibility are the same ...
متن کاملHereditary properties of amenability modulo an ideal of Banach algebras
In this paper we investigate some hereditary properties of amenability modulo an ideal of Banach algebras. We show that if $(e_alpha)_alpha$ is a bounded approximate identity modulo I of a Banach algebra A and X is a neo-unital modulo I, then $(e_alpha)_alpha$ is a bounded approximate identity for X. Moreover we show that amenability modulo an ideal of a Banach algebra A can be only considered ...
متن کاملOn the stability of generalized derivations on Banach algebras
We investigate the stability of generalizedderivations on Banach algebras with a bounded central approximateidentity. We show that every approximate generalized derivation inthe sense of Rassias, is an exact generalized derivation. Also thestability problem of generalized derivations on the faithful Banachalgebras is investigated.
متن کاملCyclic amenability of Lau product and module extension Banach algebras
Recently, some results have been obtained on the (approximate) cyclic amenability of Lau product of two Banach algebras. In this paper, by characterizing of cyclic derivations on Lau product and module extension Banach algebras, we present general necessary and sufficient conditions for those to be (approximate) cyclic amenable. This not only provides new results on (approximate) cyclic amenabi...
